IDC Names Telstra as Most Improved Telco in Asia Pacific
IDC, in the sixth edition of its annual assessment of next-generation telecom operators in Asia/Pacific, has named BT, Orange, Singtel and AT&T as the 'leaders' among next-generation telecom service providers in Asia/Pacific, but has singled out Telstra as the most improved telco over the year.

NTT Docomo Launches Global Mcommerce Provider
Japan's largest mobile network operator, NTT Docomo has set up Docomo Digital in London as a new global business operation that "brings together key assets and capabilities to enable m-commerce for mobile network operators, digital and real-world service providers, merchants and regulators."

Mobinil becomes Orange in Egypt
Orange announced the launch of the Orange brand in Egypt; the Orange brand has replaced the Mobinil brand. Egypt is the latest subsidiary of the Orange Group to adopt the Orange brand and is the Group's largest operation in terms of customer numbers (33.4 million customers at the end of December 2015) and contributes over 27% of its revenues for the Middle East and Africa region.

Saudi Telecom takes controlling stake in Kuwait's VIVA
STC said it has raised its share in VIVA to a controlling stake after acquiring 25.8 percent of shares for $425 million. STC, the largest Arab telecommunications firm in terms of capitalization, had held a 26-percent stake in VIVA since its establishment in 2008 and was running the company.
